Where is my vin number?

Supposedly there are no stupid questions, but here it comes.

Where can I find the vin number on my '98 Wolvie? I have looked all over the frame and so far I can't find it.

Left side of the bike, where the shifter is located. It should be stamped right into the outer side of the frame rail, just about behind the shifter lever.
